The Boat

Scruffy Fox is a 50' narrowboat with semi-trad stern constructed by J L Pinder in 1990 of 10/6/3.5 steel plate. John Pinder boats are known for their easy handling and good build quality.

She was purchased for shared ownership in early 2002.

From stern to bow

Semi-traditional stern with port side locker for windlasses, mooring pins etc. The throttle lever and anchor storage are on the starboard side.
Small back cabin with the engine control panel, domestic electric control panel, solar controllers, central heating controls, shore line hook up and the inverter. There is storage for tools and cleaning equipment and lots of useful keys. This space also has a single bunk that can be pulled out crossways.
Rear bedroom with a fixed double bed and wardrobe. There is additional back of door pocket hanging storage, shelves, bedside lights with usb charging sockets and a wall mirror. The calorifier is below the bed along with more storage space.
Shower room (last refurbished 2025) with a washbasin, mirror, cupboard, storage shelves, shaver point and portapotti. The shower is 700 x 700 mm, quadrant shape.
Kitchen with a 12V Shoreline undercounter fridge and a free standing LPG oven with grill and 4 burners, both replaced new in the last five years. The sink and drainer and the work surfaces sit above cupboards and shelves with overhead cupboards too. It is well equipped with cookware, tableware, utensils and cutlery.
Lounge/dining area with sofa (bedding storage below) which converts to a double bed. There is a free standing table and bench for dining that can be folded and stowed. Also folding directors chairs, two small folding tables and shelving with storage boxes. There is a DAB radio/bluetooth speaker and a TV monitor for playing DVDs. The kitchen and lounge are a joined space. We have a privacy screen to separate them when the lounge is converted to a bedroom.
Through the bow door to the front deck with fixed seating. Seat cushions and folding tables for use here are stored just inside. There is a bow locker storing two 13kg propane gas bottles and the water hose. The water tank is below this deck.
On the roof are solar panels for the domestic and engine electrics along with a boarding plank, poles and a boat hook.
